Thank God for the Tall Size!, October 15, 2009 By Burndt Toast - The best thing about every Carhartt jacket I've seen online is the availability of tall sizes. If you are worried about getting the wrong size after reading other reviews, follow the sizing chart as directed on the official Carhartt website (Google it). Never follow the sizing charts provided by Amazon because sizes vary from company to company. As for this particular jacket, I love it and have no regrets purchasing it from Amazon. The Only Problem we had was getting the correct size. The first coat came with one tag on the outside and a different tag on the inside thus giving us a carthart size problem. No problem customer service was very nice and sent us another jacket pronto. This time it was spot on.
Seems made for slender tall men, January 7, 2008 By Petra Springer
The jacket itself is wonderful! The size however is tricky. I am a female and sometimes wear my husbands classic Carhartt (sz L) which is way to big for me. I was at a store and tried a large of the J141, which was much to big for me. I could not find a M or S at a store so I ordered a S online. Around the top and arms it fits great (even loose) but I can hardly close it around my hips and waist. I am average (womens 8/10) and if I order a M of this coat I am sure it will fit nicely around the bottom but will be quite big around the chest, shoulders and arms. Hope this helps others with purchasing this coat. I think it has a typical men's body design (slender waist/hips - broad shoulders/chest). It's a very, very nice jacket though! If it had been sized a little more flexible and less stereotype, I would have given it a 5 star.

Bought this coat for our grandson as he begins his career as a deep water diver. He needed a warm coat suitable for "work": cold days on board a ship with wind blowing cold trips back and forth by helicopter, etc. The thing is, our grandson has been "addicted" to clothing from Abercrombie & Fitch" and other such overpriced clothing stores. and he LOVES this coat. It has the "cool factor" he so wants. The look of the sanded duck material plus the sherpa lining make it the broken in look and feel he likes. And the brown color must be the in thing. I like it because it will probably keep him warm. It's a good buy. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? Report this | Permalink Comment (1)

I needed a warm, well made coat for the winters in North Florida. I know, I know...you say it doesn't get cold in North Florida. Well, it was 21 degrees the other morning! Anyways, on to the review.
I've always heard that Carhartt clothing was built to survive damn near anything and warm as well. After researching many coats with so-called 'techno' features I decided on the Sierra Jacket. I couldn't be more happy.
Even though the jacket is made in Mexico, Carhartt keeps their quality control in line. The stitching and seams are top-rate. The 'duck' material is very stiff and quite resistant to the elements. The two interior pockets are a nice feature. One pocket has a velcro closure and the other has a zipper. The interior of the jacket, as well as the hood are sherpa lined. Sherpa is a synthetic wool type material to keep in warmth. The jacket is very warm and quite comfy.
One feature that really impressed me is the size of the outer zipper pull. It's huge! You can pull the zipper up while wearing gloves. This is a very nice touch.
All-in-all this is a top-rate jacket. I like the dark brown color which should wear well and look better with age.
